I used to say AM’s newest album was bad... but... This is pretty good.

Still a solid, “Meh”, from me. A bunch of bands I’ve loved for a while have come out with albums I don’t like in the last two years. It makes me worried I’m getting old.

Tacqueria on the roof, it was well reviewed...
The album is definitely growing on me, I was in the same boat when it came out . I dig the title track, 4/5, she looks like fun, and golden trunks. It’s such a goofy album.

I mean, Isn’t most of their music very goofy? Most of it is about heartbreak or struggling to fit into society.
Now that they don’t get their hearts broken, and they are a part of society rather than trying to fit in it, I feel that TBH is more about criticizing the society they live in (mostly 4/5) and how their struggle to fit in was kind of stupid.
The lyrics of most of the album are pretty good, what I’m not very on board with is how slow the music is... Other albums are a lot more energetic.

Agreed, even A/M was all about the romancin’ but still had energy and most importantly, songs they could play at concerts.
Since this whole album started on piano, it just wasn’t going to have the same feel as the older material. Reminds of Gorillaz with The Fall. It was always going to disappoint the fans who started loving them for their earlier albums.

Yeah, I like their songs that make me want to crank up the volume.
No idea if you would care or not, but this made me think of the Rush documentary I just watched.
